Tonight I Amile C. Snicket will recive the best late birthday present ever. Or so that's what I've been told by  Jauques De l'adieu. Jauques has been living here for a year now with his new foster parents. I couldn't invite him because he's middle class and I'm high class. I realy like Jauques but I don't know if he likes me. We are standing under a tree in his backyard. He told me to close my eyes and I did. I tried my hardest to focus on the moment and forget that he'd be going to a new foster home in a few minutes. I could feel him leaning in. I've been waiting for this moment since the day I met him. To Be Continued

I created a poll asking people if they would read my blog if I used it as a book review page.  I got more answers for "yes" than "no", so I thought why not try it out.  So here's how it's going to work:

I will try to update my book review blog every weekend (either Sunday or Saturday).  I will probably do book reviews on books I am currently reading now. 

Now let's start...

I am going to do a book review on a series of books I read last summer:  The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot.  I have to say these books are my favorite of all time.  There is a little bit of everything in these books: mystery, action, drama, adventure, and a even romance.  There are 6 books in the series.  The books are about a teenage girl named Suze.  She has the ability to see the dead (ghosts).  Her job is to "mediate" them, so they can move on to their next life as a ghost.  After Suze's dad dies she move from NY to CA to live with her mom and her mom's new husband.  At her new house their is a ghost living their that Suze eventually finds herself falling in love with. Each of the books are about Suze's adventures living in CA as a mediator.  I recommend these books for girls ages 13 & older.   I hope you like these books as much as I do!  If you want to learn more about these books visit Meg Cabot's website.

The novelconsists solely of letters and spans the course of seventh grade, a difficult time for both Tara and Elizabeth, particularly because they are apart from each other and can rarely communicate by telephone. Tara has moved to Ohio and is adjusting to life in a new school. Elizabeth is adjusting to life in her old school without Tara to help her through the aches and pains of her newly tumultuous home life. Elizabeth's dad is laid off and although the family is very wealthy, they never saved any of their $$ so they have almost no $$. Plus, Elizabeth's dad never wants people to think that their family is not rich. so he charges all kinds of expensive stuff on credit cards. This book was really cool because it was written by two people, and the authors wrote this book by sending each other the letters and neither knew what was going to happen next!!

Book: The Breadwinner

Author: Deborah Ellis

Genre: Historical Fiction

 

An 11-year-old girl named Parvana is living in a one-room apartment with her family that consists of her father, mother called Fatana, older sister Nooria, younger sister Maryam, and baby brother Ali in Kabul, Afghanistan. She once had an older brother named Hossain but he was killed when he stepped on a land mine. Her father is the only one that can work but has a very hard time doing so due to a leg injury and severe cough. Parvana accompanies her father while he works in the Marketplace each day, reading and writing letters in Pashtu and Dari. (He and her mother were both educated in England ). The Taliban comes to Parvana's home one day and takes her father away because he went to university in England. Parvana gets food and then a Taliban sees her and she outruns him. Parvana is forced to cut her hair and dress as a boy because women were not allowed to work during this time. She becomes the family's breadwinner, wearing Hossain's clothes.

Parvana soon runs into a girl that she used to go to school with named Shauzia who has been put through the same experience. They start to work together and soon become friends. They were never that close in school but they are now trying to figure out ways to earn more money. She also meets a family friend named Mrs. Weera, a former physical education teacher who comes to stay with Parvana's family and takes charge in their household due to Parvana's mother being severely depressed over the loss of her husband. With the help of her friend, Parvana's mother begins to feel better and eventually teams up with her and a group of other women to write the Afghanistan National Magazine, smuggling it to and from Pakistan to be published. Throughout the book Parvana grows closer to her older sister and becomes more responsible and stronger emotionally as a person. She also becomes very close with the figure of a woman in the window of a building behind where Parvana normally works (who throws small gifts onto her blanket while she is there). This is a very great and also realistic book and it taught me a lot about the Taliban and life in Kabul.

As I layed down my diary on my night stand, I heard Lukes voice for the 1 billionth time today. Telling me how much he misses me which I slowly knew was impossible. Luke was my best friend from pre-school to fifth grade. But about two months ago I moved to Vancouver, Canada. And I left my home in Colorado. Where Luke is forced to go to school till he is 18 which is after he graduates. I never wanted to leave him but my dad lost his job in colorado and had a job for him in a giant collusiam where he is a janitor. As I thought more and more about Luke. I wondered what a new school would be like different friends, different teachers, and different schedule. All different. As my mind went from Colorado to Vancouver. I slowly fell asleep..

Disasters happen all the time. Like, for instance, The earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010 lasted about 35 seconds. Weeks of improbable rescues, tearful reunions and astonishing displays of resilience followed. Looking out over Haiti from his balcony, a man said he "Saw The Earth Shaking, Dust Covering The Area, and Fires Breaking Out." Another Witness Of The Quake Said, "Within 15 blocks of my destroyed home, I saw over 100 people dead on the street." Now, in my opinion, that’s horrid. My friends and I have been earning money for Haiti. I know, most people would be like, "Eh, its over, who cares?" But its NOT OVER. Families and people have been struggling all this time. No food, water, shelter, books, toys, ANYTHING! So, my friends and I earned money so that we can send it in to Haiti. We sent some money in a couple of weeks ago, and we all feel good because we know some family or kid out there just got a bowl of soup, or a bottle of water. I think we all should try and earn money for Haiti.  People are struggling out there, girls! Please be generous and try to help. Thank-You.

Chapter 2: Happiness has a Price!!!!!!! 

 "Gahhhhhh! I am not wearing that!" I said. "Of course you are!" Sakura said. "Why do I have to?" I mumbled. "Oh so you don't want to be chosen by the prince," Sakura continued "I'll go and tell him right now!" She started walking away. "Finnnnnne!" "You should be thanking me I mean I am giving up my time and giving you one of my bestkimonos to wear!" Sakura said. "Thank you." I replied angriley. Rinji and Ryoko walked down quietly and said, "Are you ready to meet the princes mom!!!!" "Yes!!!!!!" Me and Sakura replied. "Well her she comes!" She was beautiful. She had a short blue dress and brown hair. And she was so young! She looked kind of like a goddes or magican fighter! She almost made her son look bad. "Ohmigosh!" Sakura said in her famous annoying valley girl voice. "Thats not how you talk to the queen!" Rinji and Ryoko said. "THE QUEEN!!!!!!!" "she is way to young!" Sakura said in her annoying voice. "Mmmm so these are the lovely girls you told me about." The queen said in the most beautiful accent I've ever heard. "So you girls met my son Ichiro!?" "Whaaaaa  his name is Ichiro!!!!" "Ohmigosh! He has a cute name and cute face to go with it ahhhh!" Sakura said. Sakura almost fainted! Ichiro started blushing. "Mmmm a boys weakness I broken through his barrier!" Sakura said. After my first day of actual classes at GPA, I'm very tired! I opened my room and found a note on my bed. It read;

Without even looking at the neat handwriting, I could tell it was Lola's note, by her signature purple ink pen! I couldn't write her a note, so I shot her a quick text.

I slid my cellphone shut, took my purse with me, and headed to the student lounge. I took a seat at a table, took out my iPod and just chilled. After a few minutes, someone took a seat with me.

"HI!" The girl I met in class, Jessica shouted over my music.

I yanked the earbuds out of my ears, and put my iPod away so I could chat with Jessica.

After a Coolata from Dunkins' , I checked the clock which read 7:58pm. I couldn't be late! I gathered my things, got Jessica's cell number, and headed to my room to wait for another 10 minutes until Lola arrived

Chapter Seven; Running
    "Penelope, what happened?" Joker was helping me to my feet, I had fallen over.
    I was still crying "I, I don't know. I'm scared." but that was a lie, I was terrified.
    "Let's go, we'll talk about it somewhere else, somewhere, not on this train." We walked back to the train car we had jumped on , and then I realized the train wasn't moving.
    He hopped out and then put up his arms as I jumped out and caught, me, setting me down and then walking away from the train, I walked next to him, my hands holding onto his arm as if my life depended on it, so I explained, it was a long, explanation, and his face didn't look shocked, it looked, well, panicked.
    "We have to run away." he said, I was shocked with this sudden suggestion, I gasped, but then nodded, slowly agreeing, Hadin was dangerous.
    "Okay, take me home, let me write a note to Sherry and John, some lame excuse, not telling them where we're going, pack a bag, and we'll fly somewhere?" I said, that sounded good.
    "I have an apartment in New York, we'll go there." he said, and then all of the sudden he had two tickets to New York in his hand, "No time for packing, I have clothes I think will fit you there, just write a note." he said, we were surprisingly close to my house now, I nodded again. "Remember, nothing to pack, just quickly write a note, I'll drive us to the airport on your motorcycle." he all of the sudden had the keys, too, he pushed the tickets into his pocket as we walked up the drive way, he put the keys in the bike as I ran inside, grabbing an ripped envelope and a pen and quickly jotting down words of apology, and the ran out the door. Once we got to the airport we didn't talk to anyone but the people that took our tickets, and then eventually were on the plane and on our way. I fell asleep as soon as I sat down, I had another strange dream.
    Joker was sitting in a black, leather chair, except he had brownish reddish, short, hair, and no makeup, a girl was  in his lap. She had blond hair, pulled into two, ratty pony tails, and a black and red jester hat on her head, she had a black mini skirt on and a red camisole, she was bare foot, she was very pretty, skinny, and had bright blue eyes. Her face sort of looked like Lady Gaga's, in my opinion.
    "We did it, Puddin'!" she giggled harder until she was into a full laugh, she fell off Joker's lap, landing made her shut up, she landed so hard in mid- breath, she had the hiccups "We *hiccup* did it boss!" she twirled a blond hair around her finger, the jester hat fell off of her head.
    "You know, Harley, I've been thinking..." she quickly looked up to Joker, he was in deep thought, "We didn't do it! Not yet!" he yelled, the smile disappeared from her face.
    "I know, but... we're so close!" she said, smiling again, closing one eye and pinching her index finger and her thumb together, she giggled out of pure excitement.

Hey, Hey, Hey, Katzz! I have AMAZING NEWS!!!!!!!! My fave author in the whole PLANET is (I can proudly say) my acquaintence! Her name is Joanne Fluke, & she writes the Hannah Swensen series. Frequently I email her & she ALWAYS emails me back!! Awesome, right?! I've read ALL of her books, & just y-day I ordered her newest one, Apple Turnover Murder. YAY!! :D :D :D & I have INCREDIBLE news: I am hopefully going 2 her nxt book signing!!! I have even MORE incredible news, but I'm going 2 keep it under wraps 4 now, cuz I haven't gotten an answer yet........

"So tell me about yourself!" Connor said pulling up a chair for himself while i still sat in the drum seat. "Well......" I smiled. "Um i play drums as you can tell. Im in a rock band. Sorta.... we sorta broke up since i moved. I have a little brother that is adorable his name is Ryan. I have a Mom. And my Dad left one day because he was in the military but he never came back for some reason......." My smiled turned into a frown. "Oh.." He said and looked down. "Its ok. Anyway. I have a-" I thought for a moment. Should i tell him i have a boyfriend of not? I was starting to like connor. "You have a what?" He asked. "I have a....... dog! Yeah.. a dog!" I giggled. "Most people consider me emo. But i dont cut myself or anything i just wear alot of black and im kinda emotional.." "Yeah i can tell!" He said. "HEY!" I raised my voice. "I didnt say that was bad!!" We laughed. It was silent. We just both stared into eachother's eyes. He put his hand on my cheek and layed a kiss on my lips. It was a long kiss. I enjoyed too! LOL. I pushed away from him. "Sorry." He said and scratched the back of his head. "That wasnt right...." I said and got up. "Sorry that wasnt like me." He said. "Um.. im gonna go take a walk and figure things out." I pushed the garage door opener. "Figure what out?" He asked. "What im gonna do." "About what?" He asked. "Just leave me alone. Im sorry i just need some space." When the garrage was fully open i walked out. As i walked down the dirt driveway i asked "Hey! you mind if i use ur boat?" "Sure i guess. Where ya going?" He cupped his mouth and yelled. "Somewhere!" "Your not gonna commit suaside again are you?!?!" I laughed. "No!"

When i reached the dock i decided not to use the boat after all. I figured i would probably get lost anyway. So i sat on the dock and threw pepples. I watched them hop on the water. Soon i heard a car pull up behind me. I figured it was Connor looking for me. I turned around and there standing was Blake. "Blake what are you doing here?" I got up and brushed  the dirt off my butt. "What are you doing here?!?" He walked up to me and gave me a long kiss. "Its a long story." Then i heard another car pull up. Blake gave me another kiss. "Hanna?" It was Connor. I stopped kissing Blake. "Who is he?" "Um thats Connor." Blake's face turned bright red. Then POW he slapped me across the face. I fell right off the dock. I didnt know how to swim. So i struggled and finnally Connor grabbed my hands and pulled me up out of the water. "Hey you dont hurt her!" Connor yelled putting me behind him. "Oh yea buddie! You want a piece of this?" "Hanna who is this guy?" Connor asked looking over his shoulder at me. "He's.... my boyfriend.." I looked at my feet feeling gulity. He just stared at me blank. "Hanna were you cheating on me?" I didnt anserw. "HANNA! ANSERW ME!" He ran toward me and Connor. A little bottle fell out of his pocket. I picked it up. "Blake! Your on drugs?" I asked. "Hey! Give me that!" He said. I threw the bottle into the river. "This is bull!" He got back into his truck and left. I held my hand over my cheek. Connor turned around looking upset. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Im fine." Connor started walking to his car. He waited for me. On the way back to hisp place there wasnt a peep out of anyone. "Connor. Im sorr-" "I dont care." He said. He didnt talke to me the rest of the night.

In the middle of the night i heard the garrage door open when  i was half sleeping on the couch. It was connor. I pretened i was asleep. He took my cell phone out of my pocket. I thought he wanted my cell phone number to put in his contacts. He did and put my cell phone in my hand. The next morning he still didnt talk to me. "C'mon follow me."He said. I follow him out front. A car pulled in front of the house. It was my Mom! "Sweetie! Thank God your alive!" She hugged me. I glared at Connor. Then Ryan got out of the car and rushed and jumped into my arms. He didnt want my number. Instead he called my Mom to pick me up.... : /

The main character is a girl named Poppy. It was the beginning of summer andPoppy woke with a real sharp pain. Her mom took her to the hospital. At the hospitalthey did some tests, and scans. The doctor pulled Poppy's mom out of the room to talk.Poppy could hear them . The doctor told her mom Poppy had cancer. Poppy calledJames and told him to look up her type of cancer. When he looked it up he found outPoppy might not survive. When James went to the hospital to tell Poppy, he told Poppyhe was a vampire. To see if Poppy gets to live or become a vampire you will have toread the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves vampires and love toread about drama.

The main character is Domenica Santolina Doone. One day she was with herfamily, moving from place-to-place, and the next day she was on her way to Switzerlandwith her Aunt Sandy and Uncle Max. When school started she only knew two kids. Onewas Lila, and the other was Peter Gurthie. For Christmas her Uncle Max and AuntSandy gave her ski equipment. The school took her and the rest of the students to a skiresort for two weeks. They went back to the ski resort every weekend after that. One dayLila said that she was leaving the school. Gurthie came up with an idea to throw Lila afairwell party at the ski resort. Gurthie told Lila that she was leading the group aroundthe mountains. While leading the group Lila fell and told them to go ahead. So they did,but Lila did not get up. Gurthie stayed behind to help Lila. While Lila and Gurthie werecatching up an avalanche started. To see if Lila and Gurthie make it you will have toread the book Bloomability. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read,and likes to read about miracles. My favorite part is the ending because it tells if Lilaand Gurthie make it out of the avalanche.

Setting- At school and at home

The story is about a group of girls with the same name which is Ashley. The Ashley's are gorgeous, they always have the latest fashion trends, and they are rich. The main characters are the Ashley's and a girl named Lauren Page. In kindergarten the Ashley's were mean to Lauren.  They made Lauren shove mud up her nose. Lauren  got a complete makeover and on the first day they didn't recognize her. Lauren was trying to get in the group with they Ashley's. Lauren invited the Ashley's to go shopping and to a sleepover. One of the Ashley's had an online romance with a boy whose screen name was Laxjock. The Ashley's were having a dance at their school. One of the Ashley's were going to meet Laxjock at a fountain in the park. When she goes to the park to meet Laxjock he said that he would have on a black baseball cap and she told hiom that she would be wearing a red scarf. When she was waiting for him this guy showed up with a bouguet of roses. She thought of two people Dex Bond or Tri Fitzpatrick. At the dance one of the Ashley's were allergic to nuts and the cupcakes had nuts in the recipe and she fell over. To see if Ashley makes it you will have to read the book Ashley's.Also if you read the book you will find out who the love of Ashley's life is you will have to read.
