So remember how I talked about hating Brianna {Maybe not those exact words} but it was in my first blog {P.S. Look at ♥GOTTALUVTHATNEON♥ cause that was me trying to be anonymous whoops.}. Anyways, Brianna got a "scene" hair cut { emphasis on the " " } and her best friend Kamie got one too except it looks like a boy's haircut. So anyways, Kamie ONLY teases her hair with anOfficial  Teasing brush. Wow. Umm. Well. I love my math teacher {Not like ooh  I ♥ U but like he's a really good teacher.} And my science teacher has no personality. My history teacher is ONLY interested in Texas. My english teacher is mean. And my reading teacher is awesome. Orchestra is ok with the new teacher and all, but like, well. I prefer my old teacher. And in P.E. all we are doing for THE WHOLE YEAR IS WALKING. Ok, my anger is all gone. Now go eat some bacon or something!

Hey guys! This is Izzy A, the one and only Meatless near Seattle. Well, not really, cause like 7% of the population here is veggie....whatever. I am 14, my favorite color is purple, my fave song(at the moment) is "Boom", by Anjulie, my fave book is A Novel Idea by Aimee Friedman, and my fave animal is the giant panda. So cute! I have a pet corgi named Sophie and I want to have my own doughnut shop when i am older(or a bookstore). My fave Subway sammy is cheese, cucumber, and bell pepper on Italian bread, Iam a vegetarian, and I have an insane amount of stuffed animals which I have been collecting since I was 2.

Think you know enough yet? Haha. I only have 1 more thing to say right now. AAH! School starts in 2 days! OMG! Any tips for 8th grade, guys?

What kind of dancing do you do?

i do jazz dancing. its really fun. this year i got my intermediate bronze medal and have switched to American jazz which is harder. We get to wear cool costumes and do exams and medal tests. we perform on stage at the end of the year too. its really weird having all of these people stare at u. we do bar work and floor work. two dances and practice combinations. We have these ugly black shoes ugh! and the hall is real cold in winter. thats about the only thing about it thats blah. I want to do hip hop. i saw these girls from my dance school do it last year and i thought it was real cool.

Hey chickas! Ever wanted to be apart of something big? Ever wanted to be a part of something world wide? Ever wanted to save the world? Well, just because you're young, doesn't mean you can't! So, what am I talking about? Going Green. There are TONS of ways to be active and help reducing the wastes and "global warming" causes; and you can do this in your every day life!

Air Pollution causes harm to animals, humans, and continues to destroy the enviorment and atmosphere we live in. When you see those tall, round factory buildings, with masses of smoke and gas coming out, they are letting pollution into the air, which is proven to be some causes of death, according to study. Also, there is about 45% of our world full of pollution in the air. Ocean Pollution is a MAJOR problem that is affecting the ocean, as well as the Earth too. Oil spills, toxic wastes, and other materials are harmful and major sources of pollution in the ocean. They also are dangerous and harmful to sea creatures and plant life in the water, and have a huge impact on our health. So.....what can I do to help?

1. Save ENERGY-start washing clothes in cold water, since 85 percent of the energy used for machine washing goes to heating the water. While you're at it, start using drying racks or clothesline to save the energy used from maching drying. Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter, and a few higher in the summer to save on heating and cooling costs. Another great way is to install compact flourescent light bulbs instead of regular ones, and don't forget to UNPLUG/TURN OFF ALL TECHNOLOGY DEVICES WHEN YOU AREN'T USING THEM! That includes leaving your computer on screen saver while watching TV downstairs while one is still on upstairs, or having you're cell phone charger lying in the wall.

2. Save WATER-Plant drought-tolerant native plants, since many need minimal watering. A big step you can do every day is taking shorter showers, to lower your water, and installing a low-flow showerhead, which doesn't cost much and the water and energy is saved at the same time!

3. Save GAS-Instead of burning the gas in your car to go to school everyday, try WALKING to school, or riding a bike. Or, carpooling to school is a GREAT way to help with the enviorment. Just hop in the car with a friend to and from school, so your parents gas is saved and not a lot goes into the air:)

4. Save PLASTIC-This INCLUDES skipping the water bottles! Use a filter to purify your tap water, put it in a water bottle that's not plastic, instead of buying regular water bottles. Not only is it expensive, but it generates large amounts of container wastes. Or, bring a reusable water bottle to school, which is preferably aliminum rather than plastic. Also, there are even some recycled water bottles in the stores, so be sure to buy some of those instead of the pure plastic ones. Plus, tell your mom or dad to get grocery bags at your local grocery store--NAH AH! NOT PLASTIC OR PAPER! There are actual bags for going green, and they either come in a certain material, so if you buy a few, you can bring it to the next time you shop and instead of getting plastic, pack your grocieries in your shopping bags, to save that plastic!

5. Save PAPER-Try to write small on your papers, and don't forget to write on both sides for notes and all that jazz! Paper=trees=being cut down=no habitat or enviorment for animals like bears and forestry wild life. Also, BORROW from libraries, since ink and paper goes into printing new books.

6. Save ELECTRONICS-Has anyone ever told you that you could recycle your cell phone? You can! Instead of throwing them in the trash, they can be used for other things. So donate or recycle them when they're "dead", since E-waste contains mercury and other toxics, which is growing enviormental problems.

Challenge: Ever heard of Keep_Dreaming 's BIG CHALLENGE on September 4rth? She's planning to have all the girls on here start a national day without using ANY lights, by using natural light! Check out more info on her page. More challenges: Ask some friends to go around town and pick off trash or litter you find on the streets. I guarantee you there will be tons! Especially if they're plastic water bottles or aluminium soda cans, which can be recycled! Also, ask your school if you can start a recycling team/program if you don't already have one. This includes going around campus and helping picking up the trash people litter on your school, and looking in trash cans to see if any naughty students forgot to recycle! It's a great way to help clean the world, and clean your school, which builds what? CONFIDENCE! Tip: BE SURE to use janitor tools! Alright, so thank you for reading this and be sure that you stay green and start acting/taking action in your family, your community, your school, your world, EVERYWHERE!

Wow, the past few weeks have flown by! I just got home from spending 2 weeks on a little island off the coast of Maine. The island I was on is very limited. It takes about an hour to get there by boat and the island only got electricity and appliances such as refrigerator about 15 years ago. There's only 2 computers for the whole island to share, so I've had barely any time on the internet, hence the lack of blogs.


So what's a girl to do on an island like that? Well, I like to visit the library, do puzzles, draw, and just think. I would watch TV, but we sadly don't have one there. ANYWAYS, one day I went on a hike to one of the cliffs on the island and when I got there a lady asked me to take her picture. We started a friendly conversation and she told me about how to does Native American dancing and showed me some pictures of it and the friends she made from this hobby of hers.


Then I started imagining the kinds of lives Native Americans had. Hunting, fishing, making your own shelter as well as fire, and most of the other things they did are only things I would really do when I need to or want to. The jobs the women had were cooking as well as "cleaning" the animals they were going to cook (cleaning as in getting rid of the parts they wouldn't eat) and other laborious tasks that I honestly can't really imagine myself doing.  They never wasted many parts of the animals they killed. The fur would become bedding or clothes, the meat would be eaten, and the organs would even come handy for certain things. 


Can you girls imagine living in the nature in a Native American tribe? Do you think you would be able to do some of the things the women of the tribe had to do?

I found a butterfly with a torn wing in my grass today, and i started to wonder how it happened.  So i made up this story, to imagine what happened.
Soaring, with the wind under my wings, i sigh.  You will not hear it, because I am silent.  The sounds whisper to me "This is yours.  This is who you are..."  I start to imagine landing in the beautifully green grass but before I dive, there is a horrible screeching.  I am scared, for it is a bird.  Fluttering madly, I make an escape.  But my predator is nearing, closing in.  I remember how peaceful the wind was only a few moments ago, but now it is holding me back.  Just as the bird is about to close, I find an energy I never knew I had and soared into a tree.  In the center of it, the bird cannot see me, cannot reach me.  But when I start to relax, spread out my wings again, i feel a catch.  My wing, seconds ago, so elegant, has been torn.  Hoping that maybe I can still fly, through the pain, I release myself from the branch.  Alas, only a few feet have been covered before the wind catches, and I am torn more.  Crying, I flutter down to a blade of grass, and hold on.  The green is not as beautiful anymore, it is more so terrifying, blinding.  I do not know the amount of time I had lain there, but I knew later that there was a larger being making clicking sounds with a box and yelling to some other being, who comes with another box.  I know I am elegant, I know I am agile and fast, but I have no hope of flying away from these predators.  I remember my life, starting as a caterpillar, sleek and striped, I remember spinning my cacoon and crawling inside to become what I am.  I remember how it felt when I first took off.  I remember the flowers I landed on, I look back and smile.  My life was full, short though it may be.  Not knowing if the beings are still there or not, I spread my wings in one last show of elegance and let myself fall.  For I know that I will not live much longer, and I will take what comes with pride.  I will be gone by the morning, most likely eaten away, but I know that the creature who comes along and takes me away will still live in the morning.  It's okay with me, because I know that this is the circle of life and I am coming to the end, but the world will go on.
haha, i know that the monarch butterfly is poisonous but the butterfly wouldn't know that and it's just a good ending.  So tell me what you think ; 9.  ---Lana---

Hey katz!

You read the title right, I am going GREEN!

I first decided my decision when I have a black out in my town. Some people had it for the whole day! Luckily I only had it for an hour or so. Anyway, it got me thinking how much energy we are using. So I made a mental list of things I could do consurve energy. I also thought about saving trash from going into landfills, which makes a cleaner world. He are some quick, easy, and fun(yes fun) ways to be green!

•Turn off the lights, instead open a window to get natural light

•Use a reusable lunchbox instead of brown paper bag

•Use reusable tuberware instead of plastic bags to put food in

•RECYCLE!!!!!!! Did you know that 80% of things that could be recycled aren't?

 

Those are just the basics, here are some more ideas!

 

•Wear clothes two times before you wash them. Dont say ew, sometimes your clothes don't get dirty when you wear them

•Play ninja (its hide-and-go-seek in the dark), you don't use lights when you play

•Make a wall of what you love, if you like a kind of candy get the wrapper and put it on the wall. Do that with all the wrappers of food you like. You can even make a wall of what you used to like and put a wrapper of a food you used to like, or an old toy you would throw out, that you used to like, ect.

In the last ten years or so, most people have become more aware of the issues that affect our environment, as well as how we each affect the environment with our carbon footprint.  A carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that an individual causes whether directly or indirectly. In recent times, many people have risen to the challenge and have taken heroic measures to reduce their own carbon footprints.  However, what few people have taken into consideration is how much the carbon emissions caused by their pets affect the environment.

Dogs and cats are living, breathing creatures, and they do leave a carbon “paw print” just as we leave a carbon footprint.  As they are just animals though, it is up to pet owners and not pets themselves to see to it that their carbon paw prints are limited.  Almost every decision a pet owner can make regarding his or her dog or cat has an impact on the pet’s carbon paw print.  Collectively, several bad choices could have quite a negative impact, but smart and eco-friendly choices on the other hand can have very positive effects as well.

An effective way to manage your pet’s carbon paw print is to construct a pet waste composter.  Most pet owners simply scoop up their pets’ waste, put it in a plastic bag, tie it off, and throw it away.  Such practices can lead to a contaminated water supply, and even cause epidemics among wildlife.  With a composter, pet waste is stored underground, and decomposed, this improves the soil greatly.  It is also a far less wasteful practice than simply wrapping it in plastic and tossing it.

If you live in a high-rise or a condo where you have either a small garden or no garden at all, building a composter may not be possible.  If you must use bags to dispose of your pet’s waste, buy only 100% biodegradable bags, made from GMO free corn.  Stay away from any bags that contain any trace of polyethylene, as this chemical is not good for the environment.

Your pet’s diet also has an impact on his or her carbon paw print.  A lot of dog and cat food goes through a lot of processing and contains a lot of chemicals.  You should insist on only organic pet food.  Organic pet food will mean toxin free waste.  Apart from the positive environmental impact of organic pet food, your dog or cat will also enjoy better health.   Dogs can actually be trained to subsist on a vegetarian diet with some patience.  From an ecological standpoint, this is actually the ideal situation, if you have the patience and the commitment to do it.

Every purchase you make for your pet can affect the size of his or her paw print.  Choose wisely when buying things like toys, cages, and other accessories.  When possible don’t buy products from China.  It is true that as China has emerged as the world’s factory, goods from there are cheaper.  The downside is that goods from China need to come a long way, and the freighting consumes a lot of energy.  Factories in China are not designed to be eco-friendly and produce the highest emissions in the world.  So while they may be cheaper, save buying of Chinese manufactured products to those in Asia.

I think it is sooooo unfair. Big Cats, like Tigers, Lions, Jaguars, Cougars... Why must they be hunted? For fur? For fun? Because they killed humans? And why must their habitats be cut down? It's a total disgrace and sheer selfishness! Can you guys imagine Tigers Becoming extinct? Some of you might think they are viscious killing machines, but look them up and you will understand, all they are are much larger cats with larger teeth and they hunt other animals and some people just like domestic cats hunt birds and mice. it's their way of life, how they were brought up. and think of the cubs! its my lifelong dream to get to pet one of those babies, but obviously ones that were brought up and not vicious. i wont get the chance if silly hunters go out killing them all. The first case is: Fur. Who wants to wear a big fancy jacket made out of tiger fur! Imagine it "Oooh lovely coat! What's it made of?!' "Dead tiger fur.' Gross right? Designers think they are great just because they can kill these beautiful beautys to get a coat just like them! Made OUT of them! Its revolting and so, so , sad. Even sometimes, they get killed for making carpeting or rugs, out of their SKIN! Who in their right minds would want to get out of bed and place their bare feet onto a rug made out of tiger skin? Or leopard skin? Or lion skin? I know I wouldn't. I can understand, if the tiger was dead already, (but i still wouldn't want a tiger fur coat or tiger rug), but i absolutely HATE it when hunters go out with their shotguns and make fun out of shooting these amazing animals. Something HAS to be done. I mean you've seen all those adopt an animal ads and the sad news is, not many people actually do. Adopting animals would help, but people think it's alot of money, or whatever other reasons they have. Then theres only one solution to keep these animals alive. STOP HUNTING. It's as simple as that. They mind their own business and live like a tiger should, and they are shot and turned into coats, or even boots as i've been told, for FASHION. I do love fashion but not that kind. Then theres cutting down their home. It's happening right now you know. Trees and forests cut down. What do the tigers do then? or smaller animals like even squirrels. it's there home and man is destroying it, bit by bit! and what about photosynthesis? truth is, WE the human population need trees to live too! Think about that! Finally, theres killing animals cause they killed humans. Happens all the time. People hunt sharks too actually. And dolphins. Think of those funny little dolphins. They aren't even dangerous. Yet people are hunting them and killing them. Now, a person decides to go for a, I don't know, hike, in the forest. What a clever soul. Imagine saying to your husband or wife or daughter or whoever "come on lets go for a hike up the mountain lion infested hill!' or "the snake infested forest!' or even a swim in the "crocodile infested stream!' ridiculous right? and if some incident happens the animals get blamed (well yes its horrible if someone gets injured, or killed even) and the animals get shot. it's just their nature. they don't intend on killing people. just think of your average domestic cat. they are very small and hunt things smaller and weaker than them like mice and rats and birds. now we have big cats. much much bigger and then again hunt things weaker or smaller than them. they weren't given huge fangs for nothing! you might think "well humans are as big as tigers" and the truth is, yeah, but we are much weaker, and no match for tigers, and tigers know that. 
Those are my final words for animal rights! Save the tigers, stop hunting what can we do!? anyone have ideas? your views and points about this? anything i've missed? comment and tell me if you'd like! 
PS. It's not just tigers and big cats are the case. So much more. Wolves, arctic hares, arctic foxes, bears and so much more are killed today for fashion, style or the sheer fun of hunting. Horrible, i know but it is true. My mom once told me she saw a pair of boots made out of crocodiles, real crocodiles! With the eye and all!  Sickening, right?

It's easy to say or pledge to reduce, reuse, and recycle but half the time we forget our promise. Have you done that? I know I'm guilty of that.

Sometimes we recycle often, but it's blindly or we don't think of it as reducing, reusing, or recycling. Even handing down clothing to a younger sister helps or you could sell it at a resale shop.

Things We Can Do To Help:

Garage sales

Ride a bike or scooter instead of a car to nearby places

Refurbish old furniture

Recycle that junk mail

Create jewelry from things like bottle caps

Paper mâché

Hand- Me- Downs

The whole point is saving our only planet with living things (and chocolate :P) and having fun at it too!

Remember: What's here today might be gone tommorow.

i am painting a mural at my school

 

we are painting it on a container. its gonna be about our school, culture and country. it will be hard painting on a container. I really want to see the new movie step up in 3-d. (anybody whos seen it tell me what its like). we are training for cross country at school i get to go to my area one scince i won my school one. i hope i get to regionals! for the past two years i have made it to regionals and gotten 47th both times!i want to do better than that this year if i make it! we have been running up a very steep hill.

any training tips? the run is 2.5 km long.

animals are sweet. i hav a cat and she is the cutest thing. but there are alot of endangered andimals out there. at my skool we have adopted an animal. we adopted a polar bear. we named him evergreen caz thats wat we were awarded this year. so encourage your skool to start a green team and adopt an animal. u will help save lives. and if u dont want to do that then help in ur community. like if u find a stray bring he/she to a shelter they will take care of he/she. or even better adopt 1.but its a big responseability so get a parent's ok!:)

Global warming.

Our earths ozone layer has a massive hole in it and the sun is melting the ice in our see and the see levles are rising rapidly.If all the ice gets melted some of the world may not exist because it got over flowed with water!What do you think about global warming?And how do we stop it?

We can stop the ozone layer getting bigger by going green.The ozone layer got its hole from polution.But how do we stop polution?There are 2 different types of polution,Natural polution and Forced polution.Natural polution is the kind we cant stop.But we can stop forced polution by not smoking,car pooling,walking and not litering,Please try and do these things because just a little work makes a big difference.I look foward to seeing your efforts!

A long time ago they did'nt even own a pair of shoes  and none of them complained. We have about FIVE pairs of shoes and ALL we do is complain!

I think this all needs to change. We should be saving energy and preventing from Global warming happening. Also there is a recession going on and we all have to save our money. Some of our parents don't have jobs anymore and when they say "NO! " to a pair of shoes you want. Listen!.

I just read on Google about the oil spill. BP has put a cap on the well yesterday, but the Obama administration warns that it might only be temporary. It could break/rupture really easily.

 

But still, this is the first time in 3 months anybody has tried to do anything about the oil spill. BP says that they will have to monitor the well, and give pressuere tests every six hours for 48 hours to see if it would hold.

 

"I am very excited that there's no oil in the Gulf of Mexico," Kent Wells, a senior vice-president for BP, said in a conference call. "But we just started the test and I don't want to create a false sense of excitement."

 

If it doesn't stay,BP will have to try something else, but it might take a few weeks. Engineers are looking for leaks to see if anything is escaping, if there is oil escaping, they will remove the cap and try something else.

I think it would be great to become a vegetarian because Slaughterhouses kill animals fractions before hand and meat eaters have a higher chance of dying from cancer.

It will be hard to do, but I think I can do it!

Teenage love is something that is beautiful if respected.  When you are a teen you feel unstoppable.  Like everything that goes on your life is way more important than everything else.  That your image is everything and that you just want people to think that you are truly a beautiful girl.  You want to be loved and thought about.  You wanna be that girl that has that cute smile and amazing personality.  You want boys to like you and to give you some attention that you deserve for taking care of yourself so well.  You feel instantly more gorgeous knowing that there is actually one boy out there that for now loves you.  I believe in teenage love.  Every girl wants a boy, a boy who respects her.  Not to be used or treated any less than what every girl deserves.  I believe that this is truly what those crazy teen years are all about. Trying to figure everything out and finding yourself.  It makes life much more fun having someone there by yourself through it all.
