Hey all you HP diehards! Its been a while since I posted a new blog on Allykatzz, and I couldn't think of an idea. So, I thought, why not just write about one of my FAVE topics: Harry Potter! In this blog, I will giving you all the deets about the new Harry Potter movies (Deathly Hallows, parts 1 and 2) and the HP stars!

THE BIG SPLIT: Most people will read this title and think that some major celebrity couple has just broken up. Uh, WRONG. By "The Big Split," I mean where Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows (in theatres in November) will end before Part 2 (in theatres in July 2011.)

Many people have been wondering where the crew of the Deathly Hallows movie would split the book to make it two whole movies. This was one of the biggest Deathly Hallows secrets, but a recent story in Entertainment Weekly stated that Part 1 would end when Voldemort finally in control of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows.

EMMA WATSON'S NEW 'DO: After over 10 years of portraying Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, Emma Watson was finally tired of her long, curly haircut. So, she cut off her long locks for a short, cropped, pixie 'do. After the major transformation, Emma wrote:

"Dear all, "Cut my hair off a few days ago....feels incredible. I love it. I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x."

Yep! I spent my weekend in Orlando, Florida at the Universal theme parks. For my cousin's brithday, we decided to drive there considering the new "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" addition had opened in May and my cousin was such a huge fan. Orlando is only *** away from where I live so I usually go once or twice each year to either Disney World, Universal, Sea World or any other park. Here's how my weekend went(:   

Universal Studios-  On Saturday we went to Universal Studios and it was FABULOUS!
I rode absolutley everything, EXCEPT for the "Rip-Ride Rockit." As much a roller coaster junkie I am, I didn't get to ride it because I chickened out at first, but when I realized I wanted to ride it, the line was over an hour. :( My two favorite rides were "Revenge of The Mummy" (inspired by the movie) and "The Simpsons." The Mummy is a high-speed coaster that takes you through cursed tombs and zips through fast turns, and sudden drops, all while raging mummies are coming to life and fiery flames are bursting in your face.
The Simpsons ride is a little less intense ride, and better for the whole family. This simulator takes you and the Simpson family on a wild ride though Krusty the Clown's amusement park as the evil Sideshow Bob tries to destroy the family along with the riders.
I really enjoyed these rides, along with the other attractions such as "Jaws", "Disaster", "E.T.", "Terminator 3D", "Shrek 4D", "Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast", and much more.

Islands of Adventure-
On Sunday we visited Islands of Adventure which was loads of endless fun. We took the walk through each "island", enjoying every attraction the park had to offer until it closed. First we went to "Suess's Landing" inspired by the stories and character's of Dr. Suess. This area included the Trolley Ride that takes you above that area of the park, The Cat in the Hat which takes riders on an adventure through the story as the  characters and plot come to life, a fun little merry-go-round and One-Fish, Two-Fish which is similar to the Dumbo ride in Disney World (sorry, I can't describe it better! Heehee.)
Then we visited "The Lost Continent" and I have to admit, it really didn't have much to offer aside from "Poseidon's Revenge" which takes you on a tour as Greek Gods battle for Poseidon's triton.
Then we have the all new, "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" that just opened in May here only in Orlando.
I'm not a fan of Harry Potter but I was impressed, you really feel like you've entered the world of Harry Potter with the Wand Shops, Hogwarts, and even the Hogsmeade train station! I rode everything there except for the "Dragon Challenge" (formerly known as "Dueling Dragons") I had just eaten, and it offered a little too many loops for my taste. However,I can proudly say that the "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" took my breath away. This is more than just a simulator, but it felt completely realistic and really made you feel like you were riding along side Harry on a broom stick, and traveling through Hogwarts. It was a pretty long line, so I could only ride it once, but it was DEFINATLEY my favorite ride of the ENTIRE theme park. Here's a little breakdown of the ride, courtesy of Wikipedia (I DO NOT OWN):

The ride begins with a dousing of Floo Powder from Hermione, and the enchanted bench flies off to the Astronomy Tower. The guests then come out in a set of the observatory, where they look out at a replica of the entire castle. As the guests fly out of the observatory, the ride switches back to a projection screen and they follow Harry Potter and Ron Weasley to a Quidditch match. Hagrid's new pet Hungarian Horntail Dragon begins to chase the riders. The riders fly into a set of a collapsing bridge and encounter an audio-animatronic dragon, which breathes false fire at them.[8]

The riders descend into a set of the Forbidden Forest, where giant spiders spit venom at them. They encounter a figure of the largest spider, Aragog. As the riders turn back to the castle, they encounter an audio-animatronic Whomping Willow, which swipes at them, knocking them into the Quidditch Pitch. The ride once again returns to a projection screen as the riders become caught up in Harry's and Ron's game of Quidditch. As Dementors begin to arrive at the Quidditch Pitch, Harry leads the riders away, but their bench falls into the Chamber of Secrets. The riders return to a real set as the Dementors pop out at them and chase them. The skeleton of the long-deceased basilisk (killed near the climax of Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets) lies on the floor of the Chamber, and expels Lord Voldemort's Dark Mark into the air as the benches are drawn into the mouth of Salazar Slytherin's statue.[8]

Dementors emerge from the darkness; one descends and attempts to suck out the rider's souls. This effect is achieved by projecting the rider's faces onto a cloud of fog in front of the Dementor. Harry Potter causes the Dementors to flee by using the Patronus charm.[8]

The riders are thrust back into the final video dome segment, where the Chamber of Secrets begins to cave in. They fly over the Black Lake, back to Hogwarts, where they are cheered on by a series of on-screen characters from the movies. Professor Dumbledore sends everyone back through the Floo Network to the Room of Requirement, where they exit their bench.[8]

Sound like fun? IT WAS!

Next we took a journey through "Jurassic Park" home of the thrilling "Jurassic Park River Adventure" a river boat ride gone wrong that takes you into Jurassic Park where riders encounter many dinosaurs, until they accidently make a turn into a raptor containment area. The ride goes into panic as an alarm goes off, and animal control tries to guide the raft to saftey, but it's too late and it appears that the Dilophosaurus has killed the crew. (May I just add, you notice two raptors fighting over one of the crew member's shirts... I looked at the name tag... it said Stephanie... that totally scared the daylights out of me. Haha!) Before you know it, your climbing up a hill as you hear an alarm announcing that an emergency evacuation is taking procedure, but it doesn't take long for a T-Rex to seemingly knock over the raft and send riders down an extremely steep 85 foot drop! I just love this ride, it's great for all ages, as long as you're not afraid of heights!

After Jurassic Park, you find yourself in the adorably animated "Toon Lagoon" where there are fun rides perfect for a hot day, because you don't get wet. YOU GET SOAKED. S-O-A-K-E-D! I loved Popeye & Bluto's Barges especially simply because it's just perfect for the whole family, nothing to thrilling, just plain FUN! Ripsaw Falls was fun, but a little bit frightening for such a steep drop. There aren't any seatbelts, and not much to hold on to, either. :/

Finally we got to "Marvel Superhero Island" where you found "Spiderman", "Dr. Doom's Fearfall", and of course... "The Hulk" okay, okay so I chickened  out on "The Hulk" but when I stood in front of that thing, and heard the screams of the riders even though I was far away, I couldn't put myself on that thing. I did ride the other two, though Spiderman was alot like "Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey" but less intense, and shorter. More like the Simpsons. It was 3D too, so that made it pretty sweet. The Fearfall, yeah, it was no big deal. Just the same old death-drop you can get at most carnivals, fairs, and amusment parks.(: Oh... and I almost forgot, I took a picture with a dude dressed as Spiderman!

i am painting a mural at my school

 

we are painting it on a container. its gonna be about our school, culture and country. it will be hard painting on a container. I really want to see the new movie step up in 3-d. (anybody whos seen it tell me what its like). we are training for cross country at school i get to go to my area one scince i won my school one. i hope i get to regionals! for the past two years i have made it to regionals and gotten 47th both times!i want to do better than that this year if i make it! we have been running up a very steep hill.

any training tips? the run is 2.5 km long.

Seriously. Twilight is horrible writing, and can hardly even be considered literature. Robert Pattinson was a way better actor, and was way hotter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. :/ Taylor Lautner isn't hot either. At all. And Justin Bieber isn't good looking, nor is he talented. He sounds like a 4 year old girl. What is all the hype about Twilight and Justin Bieber? And before I'm told that I can't judge, because I don't know anything about it, I do. I've read most of the Twilight Saga (never finished Breaking Dawn...I was close to crying over how awful the writing was), I've seen two of the movies, and I've heard a Justin Bieber song. In my opinion, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson are WAY better than Twilight, and Nickasaur and My Chemical Romance are WAY better than Justin Bieber.

Hufflepuff is one of the four Hogwarts houses. The house colours are yellow and black and the mascot is a badger. The house values hard work, loyalty, patience, friendship and fair play. Hufflepuff is thought of as the lame house at Hogwarts. The first time that the house is mentioned Draco is telling Harry that he would rather leave Hogwarts altogether than be sorted there. Just a few pages later, Hagrid mentions that many people think Hufflepuffs are rather unintelligent. These statements turn the reader against the house before Harry has even arrived at Hogwarts!

 

Despite all of these negative comments about the house, Hufflepuff had the second highest number of students stay behind and fight in the final battle, second only to Gryffindor. Although they value hard work and friendship, Helga Hufflepuff was the only founder of Hogwarts that was willing to teach everyone. Ravenclaw was only interested in the smartest students, Slytherin was concerned with those who had pure blood and ambition and Gryffindor chose those who were brave and daring. The relics of the four founders show these traits. Slytherin's locket showed ancestry, Ravenclaw's diadem gave knowledge and Gryffindor's sword was a fierce weapon. Hufflepuff's cup may seem unimpressive, but it is something that you would use on a daily basis. It was practical and meaningful.

 

The students in Hufflepuff are generally thought to be boring and unintelligent, but when you look at the Hufflepuffs individually you see that is not true. Pomona Sprout was able to raise mandrakes to help unpetrify students in the second year and she had many ideas on how to fortify the school in the final battle. Cedric Diggory was chosen by the Triwizard Cup as the best representative for the entire Hogwarts school. Nymphadora Tonks was an metamorphmagus, an exceptional auror and very well liked. None of these people seem lame! The only students that were ever described as dumb were Neville Longbottem, Vincent Crab and Gregory Goyle; a Gryffindor and two Slytherins.

 

So why are Hufflepuffs portrayed as slow? Is being a good person really so looked down upon in our culture? Hufflepuffs are kind and inclusive, and that is enough for them to be laughed at. We never hear much about the Hufflepuff dorms, but they are located on the main floor of the castle, right by the kitchens. I do not know of there is a password or not, but it is supposed to be cheery and welcoming. I would picture it like a larger version of the Burrow. It is a place that you want to spend time in. I really think that there is a lot that we can learn from Hufflepuffs. Maybe they know more than the rest of us! And if everyone followed the values of the Hufflepuffs, Voldemort would never have existed. He may have just remained Tom Riddle!

I am so excited for the final Harry Potter film. As most H.P. fans know by now, the movie for the final book has been made into two parts; the first being released November 2010 and the second in July 2011. It is sure to be an amazing event, and I know that I will be in the theatre to see the magic happen, at least 3 times for each movie, maybe more. I have been devouring news and trailers as they come out. I have learned that Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd, New Moon) will be playing the role of the young Gellert Grindlewald, Ciaran Hinds (Phantom of the Opera, The Tale of Despereaux) will be portraying Aberforth and Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End, G-force) will be Rufus Scrimgeour. Of course these new actors will be surrounded by the cast that we all know and love. On June 28th Warner Bros. released a new trailer for the movie. This trailer does not show very much of the action, I think that anyone who is unfamiliar with the world of Harry Potter may be confused (although if you are unfamiliar with the subject matter, why you would start watching at the end is beyond me). I find it very exciting. I can not place all the clips, but it seems like the escape from Gringotts and the chase fleeting from Number 4 will be great! What parts are you girls most looking forward to? Of course there will be some changes in the story. We will not see Bill and Fleur getting married; instead it will be Remus and Tonks. There are sure to be other slight differences between the books and movies. The way that the situation in the room of requirement played out in the sixth film could cause some issues with the rest of the plot - unless somebody saw what I missed? If you know something about that, please let me know, either in a backatcha or in a shout out. The one major fear I have about the final films is that they are going to be presented in 3D. I am a little worried that there will be parts of the movie that may look spectacular in 3D, do not look at all impressive on your television set at home. ok so we got yearbooks 2day and everyone's like oh addy im gonna need like a page 2 write stuff in urs!!!!! i'm like ok but they werent kidding. the 1st page of my yearbook is 1 person writing stuff and da 2nd page is another person writing stuff. i'm like omg i shud have bought 2 yearbooks!!!!!!! lol. 3 days left of school!!!!!!!! if i have all A's i get a laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well actually i have a 89.4 in social studies and an A- is an 89.5 so my dad is gonna give dat 2 me anyway lol

Harry Potter is way better then the Twilight series. I've read the Harry Potter books three times each. So emotional and so many deaths. I would luv to meet the author. The greatest writer of all time. What do you think of Harry? Plz don't post if you r going to say that twilight is amazing, harry potter stinks and that the books r horrible. They r not. The Twilight books r good, just not better than harry potter. I can't wait untill the movie!!!!!! I can't believe it is two parts. :(
