Hey everybody.... how is your day??? I wanna know: are you like, REALLY tired and low energy today? I MOST CERTAINLY AM!!!!!
Seriously- like all I've done is read all day and try not to fall asleep doing that. GAHHHHHHHHHHHH! OK, so on the lighter side, i have my own online business where i sell juniors clothes and on the last lot i made $71!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know, its awesome! Except the person hasn't paid me yet which I am a little bothered about but other than that Life Is Good! So what I do is I go to garage sales and buy name brands for cheap and I try to sell them to Plato's Closet, a thrift store that only takes good name brands and pays good money for em, too. BUT I discovered that I can make scads more if I sell on ebay and I'm doing just that. I LOVE MY JOB!! And like for the $71 I sold 32 items, calculating to almost $2 per item, and I paid less than a dollar for everything, and some of the things were mine!! So now I'm like super richish.  see ya'll! - Jillian

For those of you who need cash, I've got a great way to do so: start your own business!
Well, that's what I did, anyways. It started when I wanted a laptop but didn't have the money for it. So I started coming up with ideas to make cash fast when I found a book called A $mart Girl's Guide to Money,by the people from American Girl. I read it and it had a great chapter on how to make money. I thought of things that I liked to do, and when I figured out a great idea for a business, I went to my parents and discussed my idea. They agreed, and that's how Green Earth's Recycling came to be.
So, I wanted to share this wonderful idea with all of you. If you're serious about starting and running a business, just follow these simple steps: ~ 1.Think about what you like to do. You can either preform a service or make a product. Do you like to bake? Then you could hold a bake sale every weekend. Are there a lot of dogs in your neighborhood? There could be an opportunity for a dog walker. There are endless possibilities. Explore them all! ~ 2. When you've come up with what you want to do, ask your parents.Make sure that your parents agree with your idea. If they don't, then ask them to help you come up with an idea that you all like. ~ 3. Make sure you have everything you need to get started. This is pretty straightforward. You'll have to have ingredients for the snickerdoodles, gas for the mower, or film for your camera. (Of course, you won't really need that stuff. It just depends on your business.) You might need a loan from your parents(which you'll have to pay back at one point) if you don't have enough money to buy these yourself.  ~ 4. Advertise! Make handmade flyers and pass them out to your family, friends, and neighbors. Include the name of your business, what your business has to offer, and your(or your parents) phone number so they can contact you. (Also, ask your parents about the whole phone-number-on-the-flyer-thing. They may not like that.) ~ 5. Are you doing this alone or do you need help? If you want a partner, pick someone dependable and as interested in the job as you are. Your friend Megan may be lots of fun, but if she was putting straws up her nose at lunch while you were describing your business, you'd be better off asking someone else. ~ 6. Congratulations! You've now got everything prepared and are free to begin your business! Have fun! ~ So, there you have it! Six easy steps to start a business. Tell me what you think of this idea! Questions, comments, and concerns are very much appreciated! =D
(PS: I've been running my business for two years now. I have $1,020 saved up in the bank, and I'm planning to buy that laptop I wanted in November. How much do you think you'll earn?)

Hey katz!

It’s the dirty little secret shampoo companies don’t want you to know—when you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product don’t actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain… along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.

Why does this happen? Because the shampoo molecules they contain are too large to penetrate the cells of hair and more importantly the tiny hair follicles where our hair actually grows. They sit atop the follicle until we wash them away.

Why is that a problem? Think about it this way—if you wanted to fertilize a plant, where would you pour the fertilizer? On the leaves? Of course not! You’d pour the fertilizer on the root and the soil where it’s needed most. Our hair works basically the same way—if you want to treat your hair right, you need to treat the roots.

But if regular shampoo can’t penetrate the hair follicles where our roots grow, what are we supposed to do?

Fortunately, a California company calledKronosdecided to tackle this problem. Their team of researchers designed a more-effective shampoo—one that contains tiny microscopic spheres so small that they penetrate hair follicles and deliver nutrients to where they’re needed most.  They call it “T-Sfere Technology”.

Once they had solved the delivery method dilemma, they turned their attention to formulating ingredients that targetted the 5 most significant signs of damaged hair:

Thinning hair that lacks volume Dry, frizzy, unmanageable hair Limp lackluster hair Damaged hair with split ends Hair with poor color retention

Does it work? Check out the results from the product’s clinical testing. In a recent study, the Kronos system was shown boost hair volume and body by an unprecedented 96%; increase hair hydration by 91%; improve luster and shine by 96%; reduce split ends and breakage by 96%; and virtually eliminate color fading for up to four weeks. It’s rare that a shampoo can provide so many amazing benefits.

Already, Kronos has quickly become one of the most talked about hair care systems out there. It was recently featured on the Today show and was rated the #1 Overnight Hair Treatment product by The Good Housekeeping Institute.

Since Kronos is still relatively new, the company is offering a limited amount of free trials of its 4-piece introductory kit, just so new customers can see the results for themselves before deciding whether or not they want to pay for their products

The special trial includes a full, 60-day supply of four products that each feature the line's key ingredient complexes and delivery technology: Kronos Shampoo, Kronos Conditioner, the Phyx Overnight Repair Masque that repairs damaged hair while you sleep, and the Liquid Theory Conditioning Detangler that protects hair from thermal damage due to heat styling.

If you want to try this new way to shampoo, visit the Kronos website to see if these special Internet free trials are still being offered.

What Phone is it that every girl would crave over? Mine personally would be an iPhone or a Blackberry. iPhone is a kind of smartphone, touch screen that thousands crave over. I myself have been wanting this phone but a few days a go I was so close to winning the phone till someone out-bidden my dad and I. The only way someone could actually get the phone is when their birthday approaches. Sadly my birthday is in November which is months away.

I currently don't receive an allowance. So how I'm I suppose to get the phone if my money doesn't add up?
Every Girl deserves a bit of money, some may waste it the second they get and some rather save up for it, one of them being me.

Right now I'm only interveiwing my mom. My dad is still at work.

Q: If you have a phone then why can't I?

A: Too much money!! You would be on it all day!

Q: What if I only used it for when I really need it?

A: Well still no. I got my first phone when I was 35. So deal with it.

Q: My older sister is going to buy a phone. Aren't you gonna stop her?

A: Well if she is going to pay all the bills for it then I don't mind.

Q: What if I pay all my bills?

A: Honey, you don't have enough money!!

Q: What if I do a baby-sitting buisness like Lisa?

A: The parents may not trust a younger girl with their children. Don't look at me like that! I told your sister the same thing!!

Q: Lemonaid Stand?? Is that better?

A: I guess...but I'm not buying the lemonaid for you. It's your buisness so you have to pay for it.

;        & nbsp; Hmm it didn't turn out well did it? Oh well. Even though baby-sitting earns you more money I'm just gonna stick with the lemonaid stand for now. Wish me luck!!!! :)

They may live in the White House and be protected by Secret Service agents, but Sasha and Malia Obama still will be expected to line up babysitting jobs when they hit their teens.

Or at least, that is what their father, President Barack Obama, said in a television interview Friday morning.

Asked about the financial advice he gives to his young daughters, the president said, "It's a great question, because -- because so many of the problems that we see had to do with the fact that just basic calculations about compound interest and -- and what that means, you know, kids aren't taught that."

He says Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, are getting an allowance and have their own savings accounts. Then he added, "They're starting to get old enough where they may be able to earn some money babysitting."

The president said he and his wife, Michelle, are trying to teach their daughters basic concepts about savings and interest, and show them how they can "use the math skills that they're learning in school to figure out that if -- if they keep $100 in their bank account at 2 or 3 percent interest for six months, this is how much money they're going to have at the end of it."

Of course, we all learned about the Obama girls' allowances back in February 2009 when reports that the two were each getting $1 a week set off a debate on whether that was too low to be effective.

I think it is great that the Obama family wants there girls to work hard and earn there own money. But I think for a family who probibly makes a lot of money being the president and all that $1 a week is not enough.

What are your thoughts about Sasha and Malia getting jobs?Do you think they should get more allowance? How much allowance do you get?Do you have a job?Do you have any advice you would want to give Sasha and Malia?Do you help clean up around your house?Comment and answear my questions I would love to know your thoughts!

Not to generalize, but every girl ages 8-15 I've asked, wants a cell phone if they do not already have one.  That's not to say that every single tween/teen on the planet wants or needs one. If you are a part of the group wanting a cell phone, reading this post is a step forward on your road to getting one.

Step One: Do Your Research

You could go right ahead and ask your parents to get you a phone, but in most cases, parents must be convinced. Before you prepare to get down on your knees begging, do a little research.

·          What service does your family use?

·          Do they offer special deals for tweens/teens?

·          What phones do they offer at low costs?

·          What are their prices for extra services, such as text and picture messaging?

·          Do they offer a prepaid service?

Also, ask yourself a few questions…

·          Why would a cell phone prove to be useful to you?

·          What would be the primary use of your phone?

·          Would you be willing to pay for your own services?

·          Would you be willing to pay for your own phone?

·          How likely are you to lose it?

·          Would you take responsibility for buying a replacement provided you lost your phone?

·          Would you be willing to go prepaid?

Step Two: Prepare…For Failure

;        < /span>The most important things to remember when you’re talking to your parents about getting a phone are…

·          Be Flexible-Be willing to conform your plans to your family’s rules.

·          Be Enthusiastic-If you don’t believe in it, neither will your parents.

·          Be Creative-You’ll catch your parents’ attention if you provide a fresh outlook and presentation.

·          Be Reasonable-Don’t ask for too much all at once!

Combine the information you collect and display it in a manner so that your parents may understand it. Possible formats include charts, paragraphs, and lists. Mom and/or Dad will know you’re serious if you make handouts or a large display. Once you have the information plotted out, catch your parents during some downtime, like after dinner. A quick,

“Mom? Dad? I need to talk to you both,” is sufficient. First, ask your parents to hear you out and limit interruptions. Explain your case calmly. Not sure where to start? Here are major reasons for having a cell phone….

1.       In case of an emergency you can…

-Call for help

-Ensure others safety

-Use it as an emergency flashlight

2.       It can help you stay safe while traveling because…

-You can inform others when scheduling times have changed

-You can inform others if meeting locations have changed

-You can call for assistance of someone you trust that knows a particular area better than you do, rather than asking a random stranger.

3.       You can stay connected with family and friends by…

-Calling

-Texting

-Emailing

-And so on….The possibilities are endless!

;        < /span>After explaining the reasons for you to have a cell phone, proceed to explain how you would be responsible, given your parents agreed. Offer up examples of yourself being responsible….

“Well, I maintain a 3.8 grade point average at all times and I’ve fed and walked Oscar for the past year and a half. I am responsible and I am willing to pay for $____/_____% of my monthly bill.”

;        < /span>Notice how there was no “I think”, or “I want”? Just an “I am willing”. Continuing, if your parents are still listening, go into how many minutes you plan to use or what type of messaging or data plan, how much it costs, how often you would use it, and what you would use it for.

;        < /span>“I would like to include a 200 Messaging plan so that I can text message my friend Katie who moved away, and doesn’t have any minutes but she does have Unlimited messaging.” Your parents might be skeptical with things like this. ‘Why can’t you just email her?’ is a popular question that might come up, and you’ll need to have a good answer for. Don’t demand too much at once. Even if you would like Unlimited Messaging and Data, start small with your demands. You can work your way up AFTER your parents have agreed to you getting a phone.

;        < /span>Finally, show your parents the array of phones you would like to have. Just like the services, explain the prices, features, and how much you’d pay for it. If the prices are sky high and you just don’t have the money for the phone you want, and your parents aren’t willing to give you the money, perhaps find a used or earlier model at a lower price. However, many cell phone carriers offer discounted or even free phones to people starting a new contract, and prepaid phones are often cheaper than those used with a contracted service.

;        < /span>Now that you’ve done all you can do to help your parents make a decision, you can close up your presentation with two simple words: Any Questions? Be prepared for your parents to inquire more or even shoot you down entirely. Have answers prepared for whatever they may throw at you, but remain levelheaded.

Step Three: Accept and Regroup

;        < /span>Listen to what your parents say about your presentation. They may ask for some time to think about it. If they still say no, don’t argue. Try again when you have something new to add to your cause, or, perhaps, after/right before your birthday.

;        < /span>“Mom/Dad, I’m ___ years old now and I think it’s more important than ever that I have a cell phone to keep myself safe and connected with my friends.

More Details….

About: Text messaging. Some adults call it a fad, while others are dependent on it. Or perhaps, your parents are like mine, who don't use texting themselves, but allow me to, provided I pay for my service. In the recent years, text messaging has taken off and has become a common feature on most cellular phones.

Babysitting is a great way to earn some extra cash. Talk to families in your neighborhood and get the word out that you will babysit their kids. Get parents permission first and be safe! Only babysit for families you know and that your parents approve of. If you are a younger tween, starting as a mother's helper where the parent is still home getting work done and you tend to the kids and play with them is a good place to start. You'll get paid less than normal babysitting ( I got $5 an hour as a mothers helper a few years ago) but it's a great way to get the parents and kids more comfortable with you and get some practice. I've been babysitting since I was about 12 years old and mothers helping since I was 11. It's really great because I babysit for kids who live pretty close to me (multiple families) and they range from ages 2-to almost 12... I'm 15 by the way. I got certified at my local community center by taking the American Red Cross babysitting course. I think it's really important for everyone who wants to be a camp counselor or babysitter or children's program volunteer or preschool teacher to take this course because it tells you what to do in emergency situations as well as how to handle and entertain the kids and keep them happy and safe. I read an article about how President Obama wants his tween girls Malia (age 12) and Sasha (9) to start babysitting. He's trying to teach them to be money-savvy by opening their own savings accounts and teaching them about saving and interest and earning their money. I think it's great that the first daughters are money-concious and I think we can all follow their example and try babysitting! xoxo Ki

Original article from Newsweek by Jessica Bennett.

61% of hiring managers surveyed by Newsweek said it's advantageous for a woman to show off her figure in the work place.

57% of corporate managers said landing a job is harder for an unattractive candidate.

60% of overweight women had a harder time landing a job compared with 40% of overweight men.

59% of hiring managers said they'd advise job candidates to spend as much money on looks as on their resume.

Whoa. Doesn't this make you feel like our society is getting even more pathetic by the minute- plussed by the fact that some women are getting fired for looking too good!

How do you feel about these statistics? Did they make you more conscious about your body? Did they make you angry?

For those of us who don't get an allowance or have a summer job, it's time to get creative. As we reach mid-summer all the rage is about going back to school, and even though we wish summer would last forever we all know at some point it's time to whip out some cash for a cute first day of school outfit, backpack, shoes, and of course liv crayola school supplies. Some ideas to roll in more dough are obvious: Find a part time job, offer to clean around the house or do small jobs at home or in your neighborhood, watch pets while your neighbors are away, babysit, water plants and take in mail while the owners of a house are gone. But then there's the other ideas that depend only on you. Have coins laying around and thrown in various bags and purses? Get them all together in a jar and every time you have loose change or find some put it in your collection. Then when the jar fills, bring it to your local bank. Find a bank with a free money counter that doesn't charge or take a fee out of your coins and turn it into cash! Have bottles and soda cans that get thrown in recycling or worse in the trash?! Take those and bring them to the local supermarket that has a bottle return. Just like the coin counter, you'll get a reciet with how much the bottles were worth (normally 5 cents each) and you can bring that balance to the check out and turn it into cash! There are also some other things you can do online, like start a bracelet making business and sell your creations online. Or look for old toys and books and have a yard sale or sell gently used and new electronics on ebay or amazon. Or take your old clothes to a consignment shop. There are a ton of ways to make some money that you may not have thought off. Get creative, think about what extra stuff you have and what you're good at and your back-to-school budget will go up and up! Don't forget to stop at Target for Liv School Supplies with all that cash!

Hey guys, it's Clare! Against Malaria is a foundation that is, well, against malaria, a disease that kills many young African children. When mosquitos bite someone, sometimes they have diseases on them, like malaria. Because the people in Africa don't have the right medication to treat malaria, almost all of the people who get malaria die. Against Malaria, aka The Mosquito Net Program, is a project where you can donate money by signing up and even fundraising. Once you make enough money to but a mosquito net, which is not a lot, it will say Mosquito Nets: 1. It will also show mosquito nets raised by everyone on the site. It is a good program raising money for a good cause.

There was no white dress, no DJ at the reception, no walking down a church aisle.  Instead 28 year old, Rachel Sifuentes, walked down a bowling alley with the neatly lined up pins faded in the background.  The bridesmaids waved long ribbons instead of carrying flowers.  The source of music was an Ipod and the bride wore a silky blue dress- purchased at a discount.
"Luckily, everything turned out great," said Sifuentes, who lives in Chicago, Illinois, and wanted to save money because her salary at the law firm where works had been reduced.
According to CNN.com, "Sifuentes' bowling alley wedding in January may not have been traditional, but the creative ceremony saved her thousands of dollars at a time when wallet tightening has become necessary for many American families."
Wedding experts say, "Her offbeat wedding is a representative of a growing trend as brides are discovering cheap can be chic, and also inspire innovative party ideas."
Weddings are a multibillion-dollar industry and summer is the busy season.  There were about 2.2 million weddings in 2009, each averaging about 128 guests, according to The Wedding Report Inc., a company that tracks the wedding industry.
But the wedding business is declining.  The average cost of a wedding dropped in 2009 to $19,500 from a peak of $28,700 in 2007.  This year, however, the wedding spending has improved to an average of $23,800.
Sifuentes spent about $5,000 including the ceremony and the reception.

If you were a billionaire, what would you do with the money?? I'd probably donate most of it to some chairities, open up my own camp for children/teenagers with autisum, and then keep atleast one million for myself. What would you do? This is a contest. Sort of. Whoever has the best idea for spending billions of dollars, the person will get 5 gifts. ? There will only be one winner. So...yeah. GO!

Walmart, the huge store that is almost never more then 20 miles from you. And is the biggest, and highest profiting company in the world making about $244 billion a year, maybe even more. Whats the secret? Low prices, extremely low. Retailers want their products sold at the biggest store in the world, and Wal-Mart pressures them to put it there at a low price. Sure it is great for us tweens and teens to go buy a candy bar and a movie for less then $5. But companies that have told you that quality makes up for the difference in cost that are now being sold ah-mazingly cheap at Wal-Mart letting us down? Pushing other companies out of business. Even though we always try to get things US Made, things that are imported can be made for even cheaper then we can make it, even with out paying your workers. Wal-Mart makes more then its rivals, Target, Sears, Kroger, JC Penney, Safeway and Kmart combined! Is this healthy for our economy and us?

Sometimes it annoys me when I tell my mom something cute that a celebrity is wearing and I want. I don't do it to be like a celebrity, I do it because I liked what they had on. She responds "You know she was paid to wear that.", I hide my guilty look that I know and maybe sometimes I would like it because it looks good and it is their style, which I also like. But that is not the point. Are they really always wearing clothes that they were paid to wear? Do magazines really get paid to say good things and put pictures of products into their magazines? Are my days of trusting Seventeen and Teen Vogue for the best makeup, hairspray, shampoo and cute clothes over? No, not all the time are they paid to wear something though. Maybe a dress to the Oscars or an outfit for a prize paparazzi celeb birthday. But I don't think celebrities live their life's wearing clothes for the companies sake? Or do magazines list everything in it because they were paid to put it in? Why would they put a product they don't like in their magazines? They might. I tried researching it but I found really nothing. What do you think?
