Hey guys, so this weekend I'm going to the Allykatzz Town Hall Meeting at the UCLA campus in California. I'm super psyched, and I can't wait to see all the girls who are going! It's going to be a ton of fun, we have a lot of surprises in store for you (including awesome celebs) and don't forget to bring your old jeans for Denim Messaging!
For those of you who don't live close enough to make this Town Hall Meeting (mini-summit) hopefully we'll see you at a future event like the Next Tween Summit in NYC this fall! I'm also going to be quickly reporting updates throughout the day, and I'm posting interviews and reports as full sized blogs afterwards. I'll take ton of pictures and tell you all about it!
I'm leaving tomorrow morning so I'll talk to you soon!
xoxo Ki

What an awesome day today was... I went to a GI doctor (a stomach doctor) and found out I'm lactose intulerant and possibly allergic to gluten. Pretty awesome right? NOT! Now I can't have milkshakes or cheese or ice cream! Ugh this sucks! Is anyone else lactose intulerant or alergic to gluten?

Have you ever heard of a capybara? They live in South America and they look like huge guinea pigs. They're totally awesome. If I had a pet capybara, I'd name it Elmer, because my brother told me to! :) :) :)

Ok well last Saturday my bunny died and I wrote a blog about that. Well now I know why. I took my other bunny to the vet today. He said that Hermie has parasites in her stomach. He also said she is being underfed, but I am feeding her like normal (too much food). So this is what the thing is; the parasites in her stomach are eating all of her food! This is like Being on a diet where the food you eat has no calories, so even though I have been feeding her, she hasn't absorbed the food, so she has not truly eaten in weeks! She also has a skin problem that is making her lose all of her fur. But all the same stuff was happening to my Angel Buster Pogo Snifferson, so HE STARVED TO DEATH!

Hi guys! I want to help horses, and make a little moolah! SO I thought, what can I do? Ok well my dad knows people who live in Northwestern Kentucky who have a horse rescue. I know it must be a lot of work to run that place, but certainly EXPENSIVE! So I came up with this idea; I start an online business selling recycled fabric tote bags. The fabric is recycled because if you get from the goodwill you can find cool patterns and you are reusing stuff. I also want to sell scarves, and homemade jewelry too. What do you think?

After all of the Olympic hype I have made the decision that I want to take ice skating lessons. I'm trying to convince my parents to let me do it at a local skating rink. I know it's absolutely crazy of me, considering that I have EXTREMELY weak ankles (I just recovered from 2 sprains) but it looks like a blast and I'm willing to try it. I don't want to compete or win anything, I just want to skate because it looks like so much fun. After watching Ice Dancing for the first time (now my favorite event!) I knew  I just had to try it. It just looks like so much fun. It looks like dancing, but instead of moving you're gliding and instead of jumping you're flying. I don't have to do any of those big jumps of spins, I just want to be able to skate because it looks so amazingly awesome! I want to know if any of you girls out there are ice skaters and have any tips. Do you like it? How much fun is it? Please let me know! -Keely

We were so excited to get the chance to interview the singer and actress Keana Texeira.

Keana was really awesome and has some great things going on with her career. She is working on her original music with award-winning producer Andrew Lane who produced her first 3 singles, "Butterflies", "Daredevil", and "Could You Be the One".

Not only is she an amazing singer, Keana has also been in several movies. She just finished working on the feature film, Melissa. Keana will also be starring as Luna Tremaine in the teen vampire saga Soulstice, coming to theaters in 2011.

We asked her all about this and more:

Lauren and Jessica: Where do you live?
Keana Texeira: California

Lauren and Jessica: How old are you?
Keana Texeira: I am 15, my birthday is on September 24th.

L&J: Who is your favorite artist?
KT: I really adore Evanescence and Lady Gaga, I tend to like more edgy bands.

L&J: What is your favorite TV show?
KT: I don't watch TV these days. I used to watch Gossip Girl, I love Gossip Girl. I like Vampire stuff but I don't really watch TV.

L&J: Are you dating anyone?
KT: Right now I am not dating anyone, staying single.

L&J: What do you like to do when you're not working?
KT: I like to shop, hang out, I go to the movies alot. I like to write stuff, like poetry and quotes. I like to play with my dog Faith.

L&J: Which do you prefer more, acting or singing?
KT: They are both so different. It really depends on the quality. When you are singing you get to be in crowds with people screaming and waving their hands. Acting is more of a closed set, it is very quiet and professional. It is 50-50.

L&J: Which do you use more Twitter or Facebook?
KT: Twitter, but I respond to my fans more on Facebook.

L&J: What is your favorite part about portraying Luna?
KT: She is not like other vampires. She is the first Christian vampire. She really believes in God. She is very spiritual and is in touch with her surroundings. She's cool.

Keana starts filming Soulstice in a couple of months. We can't wait to see her play Luna the vampire. We are also looking forward to hearing her new music. Even though she is very busy, she still makes time to support several charities.

And...I'm actually decent at skiing...I think. It;s just that last time I went skiing was like 2 years ago and the place I went to taught us useless stuff, so I totally sucked. But the place I went to this time was amazing! SO much better:)

Well, I luv skiing now. But I'm not pro at it...yet.

Well, I'm gonna go explore more of allykatzz.com so...

It was no fun at all! Becuz I got my blood drawn I had to fast for 14 hrs. I felt like I was dying but I was thinking about the children that have no food to eat or drink. This morning my dad took me to McDonalds to get pancakes. I hope u all had a good Friday.

There really isn't a way to go into this slowly, so I'm just going to come out and say it; it really annoys me when people put extra letters at the end of words for emphasis (Heyyy would be an example of this). I wonder when this even started, because it certainly appears to be that society no longer cares about using good grammar and spelling. A friend of mine takes online classes and he says that many people are guilty of using 'chat speak' and these dreaded extra letters in formal discussions (there is a spell-check button for a reason, people...)

And then when people my age mix up there, their, and they're... Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself, that is a whole other topic that I probably shouldn't get into with this blog. I mean, adding extra letters/chat speak/et cetera is all right in informal places, like AllyKatzz (even if it still annoys me to no limit); but to use them in places like an online classroom? I myself am one to always use full words (which probably contributes to my woefully slow texting speed), proper punctuation, and suchas; I understand that it gets slow, but would it hurt anyone to put a 'yo' in front of 'ur?'

Hey girls!

I was just glancing back on some older blogs of mine, and then looking at some of my oldest blogs, right around the time I joined Allykatzz . . . Kind of hard to believe it was only two years ago I joined this awesome community, but it also seems like a way shorter time then that too! So much stuff has changed in real life since then, but on here too! I've changed themes, polls, icons, screennames, even the style in which I write my blogs! Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself!

I've made great friends on here, like Gina (OriGINAlity95), blogged great blogs, helped organize the first ever Tween Summit, and am going to be an Allykatzz reporter soon too! This is a great site with a ton of stuff for tween girls, and I think it has totally changed my life, the way I think, the people I meet, and the friends I make, all in a positive way! It's kind of nice to look back on the blogs that you've written 6 months, a year, 2 years, even 5 years ago, and see how much has changed. I'm not obsessed with the things I was then, and I definetly didn't have the same confidence and ability to speak out and be heard two years ago as I do now.

So, after typing all of this, my challenge for you girls today is to do this: Look back on blogs of years past, and take a couple minutes to skim through them . . . A lot of stuff suprised me that I was that shallow/ odd/ funny/ cool/ total mess in the form of a middle schooler, but a lot of stuff made me proud that through Allykatzz, I became a better, more confident person, and AK gives you the same tools to become one too! Happy reading!

Ali

You may recognize Drew from his role of Joey Parker in Another Cinderella Story. Or his multiple gigs with Disney including filling in for Zac Efron as Troy during the HSM tour. Recently, he's done the webisodes for: I kissed a vampire (available on itunes) and performed on Broadway's The Little Mermaid. And you can hear him sing a revamped track from The Little Mermaid called Her Voice on the Disney Mania 7 CD coming out March 2nd! We talked about many things...
Musical influences: Drew's musical style is influenced by what he's listening to at the time and past experiences. He's been into R&B and Pop in the past but as of late he's jamming to 80s bands. He loves all music and will hear whatever he feels like that day.
Career Aspirations: As a kid, Drew aspired to be a shortstop BBall player. When he was really little he wanted to own a museum because he thought dinosaurs were cool. However, he went to college for advertising so that he could come up with slogans and commercials for companies.
Dancing: When it comes to dancing choreography's his strong point- when he doesn't have the moves set he swears his rhythm goes out the door; but he also said at his good friend's wedding he loved dancing at the reception. He wiggled, spun, and did dips to 40s and 50s songs where you 'don't have to be good'.
V day plans: Valentine's day was a good time to 'relax & chill out'. He considered the night before the holiday a more adequate celebration where he danced at the wedding reception which was romantic and had a big band.   Disney Mania Song:  Even though he's recorded songs on past Disney Mania records this one was different because it was last minute. He was doing the show on broadway (the little mermaid) and thought it would be a good idea to remake a song (her voice). So he recorded it in the studio after doing the show and stayed up 'till 5Am. He got to shoot the music video for it in Brooklyn which was cool.
Recording vs. singing live: He loves doing both but he considers live to be more fun because he can build off the audience's reaction like when he points the mic out and they sing a few verses. There's also a thrill and challenge in testing your chops and trying to be flawless because you can't let yourself go.
Embarrassing ipod song:  I asked him what's the most embarrassing song on your ipod right now? He told me how he was going for a run the other day and a surprising track came on.... Called Barbie Girl. Admitting it's a good song to run to is as far as he'd tell- he doesn't know how it got on there!
Keep it here to find out what Music Legend left Drew speechless while encountering! Guess below!

In Science, my class is studying chemistry. I started to think...
Scientists have made there own elements in laboratories, made crazy weapons- taken apart compounds... Why can't they do something good & useful? We have plenty of oxygen and hydrogen- why can't they make water to send to places suffering from droughts and save lives?
Please comment and tell me what you think. They're probably perfectly capable of it- why won't they?
Please tell me what you think.

If not a lot of physical therapy is in store. I wont be able to walk for a while and doing p.e. is kindza out of the question. Has anyone had surgery before? I am afriad because the doctor at the ER said that it is most likely major... Please help...

Last week, a boy from my school passed away. He was only 16 years old. I was shocked when I heard the news. He was too young to die. He might have made some mistakes, but he never deserved to die. He was one of the nicest, happiest kids...I still can't believe he's gone. Today, the first day back at school since it happened, one of my teachers was talking to our class about it. She said, while we're all complaining about coming back to school, he would have given anything to be sitting in school today. It really made me think. While you may hate school, things could always be worse, and you should just be thankful that you're even able to be there. Another thing she said was "to the world you may just be one person, but to one person you could be the world". I've felt like no one cared about me before, but seeing how people reacted to this tragic death, made me realize. Everyone has someone that cares about them, whether you realize it or not. The last thing she brought up, is that while we might think "oh, i'd like to do that sometime in my life", not everyone is that fortunate, and everyone should live life like you only have one day to live. And try to make the best out of everything. So yeah. There's been a few other deaths in my school in the past few years, but I didn't know any of them very well. This just really made me realize, that life is a gift, and you should never take it for granted, because it could end any day.

Hey so back in August when I went for my sports physical, my doctor looked into my mouth and she said that my tonsils look like they are just about to jump out and hit her in the face, lol, so in back in November, I had to have a sleep study done at the hospital and they said that I had RSL (Restless Leg Syndrome) and my tonsils are effecting my sleep and so I had to go and see a nose, ear, and throat specialist. He said that I definatly have to have my tonsils taken out. The date is March 16th, (my mom's birthday.) Wonderful present huh? Well I joke around and say the present that I am going to get her is my not talking! Lol, I talk a lot so....wat's up with u??? TTYL peace!!!

Hey girls!

Well, it's not the question for me, but it is for a lot of girls, especially in their tweens and teens. We're not little kids anymore, and we can make our own choices, and have our own opinions, which is great! Being vegetarian, whether you're vegan, which means you eat no meat, no dairy, and nothing that comes from animals, lacto-ovo, which means you just don't eat meat, poultry, or seafood, or even semi-veg, where you only eat mainly white meat is a big commitment. If you're serious about it, getting started, and staying off meat can be hard, and what happens if you don't eat enough protein can be even harder, and my best friend learned that hard way! If you want to become any kind of vegitarian, or you're just curious to see just what it takes, read on . . .

Like I said, being vegetarian is a big commitment to keep, and it can be hard, but the great thing is you can pick and choose what you like and do it, and choose not to do the things you don't like. Some girls don't eat meat because they don't respect the way the animals are treated, and made into meat for you to eat, or even kept for milk or to lay eggs, so they become totally vegan. Other girls become only lacto-ovo because they believe it's healthier for them, or for the reasons above, just not giving up milk and eggs, things that are more common in a LOT of the stuff we eat.

I'm pretty much semi-veg, because I eat mostly white meat, and almost no red, but there are exceptions, just because some of the stuff my family eats DOES have red meat in it, but they are trying to make more things with turkey and chicken to respect the things I like, and the way I'd like to eat.

So if you're intrested in doing this veg thing, the first thing to do if you're serious about it is to have a chat with your doctor. If you're deciding to become vegan, this chat is a MUST because you'll probably need protein and calcium supplements, or a diet plan to make sure you get all the nutrients you need, especially now when we're growing.

If you're thinking of becoming lacto-ovo, it's a great idea to start trying some new foods like tofu, almonds, yogurt, and a ton of milk to make sure you're getting enough protein and calcium. If your school is nut free like mine, try picking up some soy nuts, made from the soy bean. They're really healthy, tasty, and nut free, and you can get them at pretty much any large grocery store, health food store, or bulk food store.

My best friend became vegetarian this summer, but after getting sick from not enough protein, she realized she needed to make some changes. She helps cook dinner once a week now, and plans out the food to make sure it's completely vegetarian for her. Her parents also make some food on a different plate for her, or she skips the meat sauce on spagetti, simple stuff like that. It's a commitment, but for some girls, it's totally worth it!

If you're intrested in trying out becoming semi-veg, you can still do all of this! There's some great recipies for chicken burgers and veggie burgers that my family loves, and actually enjoys a lot more then hamburgers! Remember, becoming ANY kind of vegetarian isn't for everyone, and it's always a good idea to try being any kind of veg for a week, just to see if you can do it, especially if you buy food at school, or your family is a meat loving clan! Vegetarian-ism, and all the stuff that goes along with it is a touchy subject, and I'm sorry if this blog has hurt anyone's feeling and such. I'd love to hear what you think, but please, no mean comments! Thanks, and good luck all you future veg-heads!

-Ali

Last night my dog got into a fight my other dog and all of sudden she couldn't move her leg. We took her to the emergency vet and they x rayed her and said her hip was dislocated and they had to put her under anesthesia to put it in to place. Two hours later, we got a call saying she died. She was only four years old. The picture is of her. I can't stop crying, last night and today. This is unreal. I just need help getting through this awful time.
